Casad-Lane Family papers

Abstract Thomas and Sarah Casad settled in the Mesilla Valley in 1874. The Casads invested in real estate and purchased more than 10,000 acres of the Brazito Land Grant. Jenny Casad, one of their daughters, married Nathan Lane in 1884. The papers consist of estate information, correspondence, and the personal papers of Sarah Casad, Nathan Lane, and Jenny Casad Lane, as well as several other family members.

Casad-LaRock family papers

Abstract The collection contains the family papers of Wilford “Bill” LaRock and Gertrude “Gay” Casad-LaRock. Gertrude Casad, the daughter of Humbodlt and Matti Maude Casad married Bill LaRock in 1949. These papers consist of family papers regarding the Casad and LaRock families, as well as close family friends Emmit and Daisy Lindsey.

Casad-Mandell family papers

Abstract Maud Casad, the third child of Thomas and Sarah Casad, was born in 1866 and married William Mandell in 1890. Their fourth child, Humboldt Casad Mandell, married Mary Evangeline Smith in 1930. These papers were assembled by the two children of Humboldt and Evangeline Mandell. They contain family history and memorabilia concerning the Casad and Mandell families, as well as some documentation of Madeline Mandell, the daughter of Humboldt and Evangeline Mandell.

Cate Fitzmaurice Oral History Transcripts

Abstract Transcripts from the oral history project Gender and the Counterculture Women of New Mexico, 1968-1973, in which seven women were interviewed. All interviews were conducted, edited and transcribed by Cate Fitzmaurice. In order that their privacy may be respected, pseudonyms are used instead of the real names of interviewees. The transcripts are arranged alphabetically by the name assigned to each interviewee.

Charles Atherton Cumming papers

Charles Deus Memoir

Abstract Typewritten memoir recounting the life of Charles Deus, dictated to and edited by Daniel B. Castello. Deus claims to have lead extraordinary "varied adventures on the plains and in the mountains" of Colorado and New Mexico in the late nineteenth century. His adventures included service in the Mexican-American War; gold mining; combating cattle rustlers and vigilantes in Denver; and service in the Civil War.
